Serenity over bed fixtures are extremely versatile and come equipped with separately switched reading, ambient and exam lighting settings. The fixtures are unique in that they distribute the multi-function performance lighting around a luminous frame, while their illuminated center panel enhances the patient experience.

This center panel affords a pleasing design for the environment and helps the patient to feel more at home while creating a serene visual distraction. This is achieved with a choice of four decorative patterns to complement any design.  Additional options include amber LED night light which allows nurses to attend to patient without disturbing sleep cycles and the RGB color-changing LED option for visual interest.

LED Use in Outdoor & Parking Applications to Rise

Outdosfra_large zoom outdoor lightingor lighting systems are a major contributor to global energy use. Today, this market segment is dominated by fluorescent, high-pressure sodium, and metal halide lamps.

Over the next 10 years, however, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) will become the leading lamp type for outdoor installations. According to a new report from Navigant Research, worldwide shipments of luminaires with LED lamps for outdoor and parking applications will grow from 4.1 million annually in 2014 to nearly 14 million in 2023.

“LED outdoor area luminaires must compete with existing technologies that are relatively energy efficient and low cost, making lifetime cost savings more challenging in a market led by retrofits and replacements,” says Jesse Foote, senior research analyst with Navigant Research.

“With LED prices continuing to fall, however, the case for replacing today’s most prevalent lighting technologies is becoming more and more compelling.”

The growth of smart city initiatives is also driving outdoor lighting systems to become increasingly sophisticated, according to the report. Smart lighting systems can make decisions in real time; a networked light in a city park, for example, can detect when an individual lamp burns out and immediately schedule a maintenance crew visit.

Many companies in the lighting sector now refer to themselves as being at the center of the Internet of Things, rather than as pure-play lighting companies.

The report, Outdoor and Parking Lighting Systems, analyzes the global market opportunity for outdoor luminaires, lamps, and lighting controls in the following end-use applications: city parks and public areas, sports parks and stadiums, commercial site lighting, open air parking lots, indoor parking garages, and university and college campuses.

LiteProQD Photometric Tool Creates Lighting Layouts Using Precision-Paragon [P2] Fixtures

The online tool enables lighting professionals to quickly and easily plan energy-efficient-lighting layouts that use Precision-Paragon [P2] fixtures and retrofit kits. The tool allows users to develop their own layouts, or automatically generate layouts that deliver a targeted illumination level or lighting power density (LPD).

LiteProQD allows users to specify a host of custom variables, including custom room dimensions, fixture mounting options and work heights.

“Before, you had two options for planning lighting layouts,” said Joe Martin, [P2] vice president and general manager. “You could develop layouts manually, or you could use expensive and complex photometric software to create accurate models of illumination levels. LiteProQD is a third option.”

This option is both free and straightforward to use. [P2] has posted an introductory screencast for the LiteProQD tool on its website, and will be releasing more advanced training materials in the near future.

[P2] has made photometric data available for the majority of the 200+ lighting fixtures and retrofit kits listed on its website, and LiteProQD makes use of this data. LiteProQD allows users to specify a host of custom variables, including custom room dimensions, fixture mounting options and work heights. It auto-generates lighting layouts to meet target illumination levels, a specified number of luminaires, maximum LPD or specific grid layouts. Layouts can be viewed in 2D profile and overhead views, and in a 3D two-thirds overhead view.

Once a layout is generated, the tool models luminaire layout, the average illuminance throughout the space being modeled and the total LPD. The final layout can be easily printed and shared with coworkers, clients and partners.

“Our goal as a company is to help our customers create successful lighting projects,” said Martin. “LiteProQD makes that easier than ever.”

Bulldog Energy Goes to Las Vegas for WPMA Convention


In February, the Bulldog team joined other vendors from the Western United States for the Western Petroleum Marketers Association’s conference in Las Vegas, NV.
